Kickstarter Pick: Laser Fury is like sci-fi Diablo

Top-down loot grabbing RPGs like Diablo seem to be most often placed in the fantasy realm. There's nothing wrong with that, of course, but that setting doesn't appeal to everyone. Those out there who are more interested in the sci-fi realm take note of Laser Fury, as it looks like it might be able to scratch that non-fantasy loot-grabbing itch quite nicely.

The story tells the tale of a team of mercenaries known as Laser Fury. An unfortunate situation with an alien organism causes their ship to crash on an uncharted planet and the group (one to four players, online or off) has to cobble together a plan to escape.

There are four different classes to choose from, including a ranged archer and an up-close brawler. There's also a branching skill system in the game that allows players to take different paths through the upgrade tree. This could result in some unique configurations and could allow characters to play differently than each other in drastic ways.

The game is up Steam Greenlight and is looking for funding via Kickstarter as well. It's planned for Windows, Mac and Linux, though a PS4 version could be in the works through stretch goals. July 2015 is the current estimation for completion.
