A rumor broke this week that Microsoft is in late-stage talks to acquire Minecraft-maker Mojang for around $2 billion. Besides making Minecraft creator Markus ‘Notch’ Persson a very wealthy man (according to the Wall Street Journal he is one of only three Mojang shareholders), the news, if true, also has the potential to completely change the video game landscape.
First off, we have to talk about that potential $2 billion price tag. It sounds crazy, doesn’t it? Sure Minecraft is a huge hit, but… two billion dollars?!?
